Company History
Bennett Partners traces its heritage back to the firm of GE Jones and Co in which founding partner Bob Bennett was a partner. Bob Bennett departed that firm in 1979 to found Bennett Partners. Darryl Camilleri became the third partner in 1987.
Chris Sammut became a partner in 1997 when Bob retired and took over the majority of Bob's client base. Paul Hinton also became a partner in 2001. Therese Scotton and Geoff O'Connor became partners in 2012.
John Lavis joined as a partner in 2013 as part of an acquisition in Brisbane and Ryan Leach has since been appointed a partner in early 2017.
Mergers
1996 |
The firm has swelled in size with several mergers over the years. The first was a merger with D.N. Watts and Co. David Watts continued with Bennett Partners until his retirement in 2012. |

1997 |
Bennett Partners acquired the Mackay based practice of Michael Kelly. |
2003 | Bennett Partners acquired the Greenslopes (Brisbane) firm of GN Steel and Co to expand our firm into the Brisbane area. Chris Sammut is the partner in the Brisbane office and services both the Mackay and Brisbane offices. |
2005 | Bennett Partners acquired another local Mackay firm being Pioneer Accounting, retaining several staff and the strong client base. |
2006 | We moved our Brisbane office into the city from Greenslopes, and are now centrally located at Level 3, 400 Queen St. |
2009 | Bennett Partners acquired the Brisbane firm of Bauer Accounting and Rob Bauer became a partner operating out of our Brisbane office until his retirement in March 2015. |
2013 |
A further acquisition in November 2013 resulted in John Lavis becoming a partner, also based in our Brisbane office. |
